Sopraffina Marketcaffè is dedicated to improving its business by taking measures to reduce its environmental impact. Currently, all five Sopraffina Marketcaffès are going through an environmental certification process. To meet the comprehensive standards, we are working to improve our business from top to bottom.

Below are some of the highlights of our efforts:

• Energy: We have adjusted the thermostat seasonally, trained employees to turn off all equipment until absolutely needed, and are in the process of converting to Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs.
• Hybrid Delivery Vehicle: To directly reduce our impact on global warming and help reduce our green house gas emissions we use a Ford Escape Hybrid for our deliveries. The Escape Hybrid uses no fuel when the vehicle is stopped in traffic or in drive at low speeds, making it very fuel-efficient for our deliveries around the city. Look for a bright yellow Sopraffina truck around town!
• Water: We are in the process of installing low flow aerators on all bath room fixtures, kitchen hand sinks and dishroom pre-rinse sprayers, which also conserve energy used in water heating.
• Cleaning Products: We are converting to cleaning products certified as more environmentally sustainable by Green Seal.
• Disposable Products: The paper products we use contain 100% recovered paper fiber and are Green Seal or Eco-Logo certified. We also work to source plastics which are made from recycled material, and can be recycled again after use.
• Waste Diversion: All Sopraffinas have implemented a full-scale recycling program. We recycle plastic, glass, aluminum, paper, and cardboard at all of our restaurants, in an effort to divert as much waste from landfills as possible. At our 222 West Adams location, we have also built a recycling station to source-separate our waste, and are even diverting food scraps and biodegradable products from landfills by sending them to a composting facility.
